Section III - HAZARDS INDENTIFICATION
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
EYE CONTACT: May cause mild eye irritation. Direct contact with liquid concentrate may cause stinging, tearing, redness, pain, swelling of the conjunctiva, and possible chemical burns and permanent corneal damage.
SKIN CONTACT: May cause mild skin irritation. Prolonged or repeated contact may cause redness, burning, drying, cracking of the skin, and possible cumulative dermatitis.
INHALATION: This material is expected to have a low degree of toxicity by inhalation. Breathing high concentrations of vapors or mists, especially if heated, may cause irritation of the nose and throat and signs of nervous system depression (e.g. headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, and loss of coordination).
INGESTION: While this product has a low degree of toxicity, ingestion of excessive quantities may cause irritation of the digestive tract and signs of nervous system depression (see inhalation above).
Section IV - FIRST AID
EYE CONTACT: If irritation or redness develops, move victim away from exposure and into fresh air. If splashed into the eyes, immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. If available, use eye cups or an eye wash fountain. If eye irritation persists, get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated shoes and clothing and rinse affected areas thoroughly with water. Launder clothing before reuse.
INHALATION: If respiratory symptoms develop, move victim away from source of exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, get medical attention.
INGESTION: Give 2 glasses of water to dilute stomach contents. Do not induce vomiting. If possible, do not leave victim unattended. Get prompt medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Section V - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
FLASH POINT: None
FIRE POINT: None
FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR, % Volume, LOWER: None UPPER: None
UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Poses no fire hazard
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: None
FIRE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Carbon dioxide, foam, dry chemical, or water spray. Water spray may be useful in minimizing or dispersing vapors and cooling equipment exposed to heat and flame.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS UNDER FIRE CONDITIONS: If material is allowed to evaporate, residue will be left that may produce irritating hazardous products of combustion and thermal decomposition including fumes, smoke, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and oxides of nitrogen.
Section VI - ACCIDENTIAL RELEASE MEASURES
SPILL ON LAND: Prevent additional discharge of material, if possible to do so without hazard. Floor may be slippery; use care to avoid falling. For small spills implement the following cleanup procedures: Prevent liquid from entering sewers, watercourses, or low areas. Contain spilled liquid with sand or earth. Recover by pumping or with a suitable absorbent. For large spills implement the preceding cleanup procedures and, if in a public area, keep public away and advise authorities. Consult an expert on disposal of recovered material and ensure conformity to local disposal regulations.
SPILL ON WATER: Will dissipate in water. Consult an expert and ensure conformity to state and local regulations.
Section VII - STORAGE AND HANDLING
ELECTROSTATIC ACCUMULATION HAZARD: No
STORAGE TEMPERATURE: Ambient; 40 to 100F, 5 to 38C
STORAGE/TRANSPORT PRESSURE: Ambient atmospheric
LOADING/UNLOADING TEMPERATURE: Ambient
LOADING/UNLOADING VISCOSITY: 45 cSt. typical @ ambient
STORAGE AND HANDLING: For small containers, keep out of reach of children. Keep tightly closed and store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area. Store only in approved containers and protect from physical damage. Storage should meet OSHA standards. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not wear contaminated clothing or shoes. "Empty" drums should be completely drained, properly bunged, and promptly shipped to a drum reconditioner. All other containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulation. Do not overheat; product may boil if heated above 212F, 100C.
Section VIII - EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
EXPOSURE CONTROLS: Normally not necessary. Ventilation should be provided to control worker exposures and prevent health risk for extensive use or if concentrations of vapors exceed the limits set forth in this Section.
PERSONAL PROTECTION: For open systems where contact is likely, wear long sleeves, chemical resistant gloves, and chemical goggles. Where contact may occur, wear safety glasses with side shields.
